This webinar will present the underlying theory behind the contemporary approach towards carious tissue removal, and will lay out systematically the different strategies for caries excavation. It will then describe, step-by-step, how to perform step-wise and selective removal, as well as caries sealing strategies and non-restorative strategies for managing cavitated caries. A specific focus on root caries will be laid for the latter part. Then, different restorative approaches, including lining and adhesive as well as restorative materials, will be discussed, followed by the evidence behind these approaches and some practical advice for daily practice. This webinar addresses practitioners, students and specialists in operative dentistry.
